Jerko Leko - Biography
Jerko Leko was born on 09.04.1980 in Zagreb. His career started with The FC Posavina when he was not full eight years old, but he soon transferred to FC Dinamo. When he was 17 years of age he was shortly borrowed to the FC Sesvete. After his return, he signed his first professional contract with the FC Dinamo.
In the same season he already acted for the first team and played, during two years, until his transfer to the FC Dynamo in Kiew, a total of 44 matches, scoring 5 goals.
With the Zagreb Dinamo he won the Croatian Cup two times in a row, where the last trophy is specially important as he decided the winner with a beautiful 20 meter direct hit.
In the same year, on May 8, an invitation to join the Croatian A National Team with followed, with his debut in a friendly match against Hungary. Till the present day, Jerko played 49 matches for Croatia.
He left a very significant memory of himself with the FC Dynamo in Kiew where he was, already in his first season, chosen by the journalists as the player of the year. During his four years’ stay he played more than 100 matches with great performances in the Championship League matches against the Inter from Milan and the London Arsenal.
With the Kiew Dynamo he won the following row of trophies: twice champion of Ukraine, three Ukraine Cup and twice the Urkaine Super Cup.
In the year 2006 he selected the AS MONACO as his new club, deciding, among several options, for the dynamic French League.
During the last two seasons he has played 42 matches for the AS MONACO, scoring one goal.
